  • Sharing syringes to inject drugs, hormones or steroids
  • Tattoos & body piercings in unregulated settings
  • HIV-infection
  • History of incarceration
  • Children born to mothers infected with Hepatitis C
  • Non-injection drug use is a risk factor for HCV (and many other infectious diseases)
  • Sharing drug use equipment (pipes, cotton, cookers, water, etc.)
  • Sharing straws for snorting drugs
  • Occupational needlestick
  • Received blood transfusions or blood components before 1992
  • Sharing personal care items such as razors, clippers or toothbrushes
  • Sexual transmission (not common, however, some sexual practices may involve blood) ​

​Bronx Móvil is a mobile ham reduction organization that provides bilingual (Spanish/English) harm reduction and related  health promotion to people who use drugs, including injecting drugs, and who are unhoused and experiencing housing insecurity in The Bronx and neighboring areas. In the city that never sleeps, harm reduction must be 24/7 and culturally and linguistically centered.

An online and mail-based harm reduction platform designed to reduce opioid overdose death, prevent injection-related disease transmission, and improve the lives of people who use drugs. NEXT distributes all the supplies one would find at a in-person syringe access program including syringes, hazardous waste disposal tools, fentanyl test strips, as well as safer injection, safer smoking, and safer sex supplies. IDUHA
The Injection Drug Users Health Alliance is a coalition of harm reduction providers across the five boroughs of New York City.
