The Hepatitis C Education and Support Group Assistance Program

Hepatitis C Mentor and Support Group, Inc. was formed to address a lack of education and supportive services for anyone affected by Hepatitis C, those co-infected with HIV, and Liver cancer. The founder is a Hepatitis C patient and advocate.
To meet the organization’s goal, the Hepatitis C Education and Support Group Assistance Program provides resources, trainings and supportive services nationwide. These services are performed in hospitals, clinics, and various other organizations, such as those focused on co-infection with HIV, people who currently or formerly use drugs, youth and young adults, the LGBTQ community, and individuals of child bearing age. Our services are available to patients, health care providers, and community based service providers at no cost.

- Training and training materials on group meeting facilitation, education on Hepatitis C, co-infection with HIV, Harm reduction strategies, and the importance of advocacy.
- Educational trainings for health care providers and staff on best practices for working with diverse patient populations.
- Working with the staffs of HIV organizations to integrate Hepatitis C education into their programs.
- An informational website (www.hepatitisCmsg.org), award winning blog, and social media updates to help patients, facilitators and healthcare providers stay up-to-date on other Hepatitis C related resources such as, relevant sites, reports and conference highlights, disease and treatment research, training, harm reduction strategies, advocacy opportunities, and other topics of interest. It also includes information on programs to help uninsured or underinsured patient’s access treatment.
- HCMSG Patient Support Newsletter is geared to help patients, including questions to ask medical providers, definitions of medical terms, provides resources such as patient assistance programs, and the latest information on treatments collaborated and provided by medical advisors from leading New York hospitals.
- Meetings and conference calls with medical providers and support group facilitators to share information, resources and best practices.
- Tele-Support - The same training as above only provided via conference call.
