You may not know that Hepatitis C is a hidden epidemic in the U.S., and around the world. In the U.S., about five times as many people have Hepatitis C (or HCV) as have HIV/AIDS. But because the disease often has no symptoms until it's damaged a person's liver extensively, HCV has received far too little attention... until now.
Unlike HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C can be cured. And a revolution in the treatment and cure of Hepatitis C is beginning right now. New drugs that are about to become available will raise the "cure rate" for Hepatitis C from about 40 percent to about 80 percent for new patients. And this is just the beginning of the revolution. Even more effective drugs and combinations of drugs are in "the pipeline" for testing and approval.
We plan to be a part of this revolution in care by making sure that people with HCV have the support they need to manage and overcome the disease. You can read about the projects we plan to implement on our website. You will also find lots of information about HCV on the site under "Resources". We provide facts about the disease as well as links to additional information and other online resources.
You can also find out how to contact us or support our work. We hope the site is a valuable resource for you or someone you know. Let us know what you think.
